"I remember those flights. The heat shimmering above the airfield and the warm, circling winds. I remember the scent of sunburnt grass, even though I wasn't even born when these flights were filmed. The sound of the grasshoppers was strangely similar to the rattle of the film projector. The film reels have become mixed. The ones where I run after the lawnmover and the ones in which my father soars through the skies. In my memories, I see my childhood in these warm, time-worn colors. The super 8 film has become my memory."

A Dream of Flying is a personal documentary movie about flying. It is a story about the borders between the generations and the desire to break the shackles of gravity, inherited from a father to a son. Behind the people looms the political climate of the end of the 20th century.
The form of the film explores the techniques of documentary movie: the main characters are depicted both through carefully arranged, styled scenes and the means of direct cinema movement. The director, fully in control, is first shown via staged, quiet scenes. When contact with the father is made, raw and direct cinema is used to demonstrate what follows.
